Handen

The hands of my late father in law, Ben Abbink. I drew this shortly before the coffin was closed.
These long tall hands built a family; they played the accordeon, they painted watercolours, they helped, they punished, they guided. They performed magic.
The funeral was yesterday.
De lange smalle handen van mijn schoonvader, getekend vlak voordat de kist werd gesloten. Gisteren hebben wij hem uitgeleide gedaan.

Thank you for sharing this, Rene. Blessings on your family, your wife. Sorry to hear about your loss. May God fill you with his peace at this time. The hands- what a good reminder of the brevity of this life. We will all fold our hands some day when we have completed the work set before us.
