Kasteel

The castle of Amstenrade, a few hundred meters from my house. I made this drawing before I returned home after work. While I was drawing this scene a member of the family (yes, the castle is still inhabited by a count) came around to warn me that I had to be careful because I was standing in the middle of driveway. I did. Well, I assume in reality she was just curious what I was doing....... ;)

Some times we are blind for the every day landscapes. It is not easy to do so well!

Great drawing, hilarious that one of the family came out. Did they ask to see your work?

Bea, Geert-jan, you are both very right. It's also that you don't draw it because there is no necessity, the scene will be available for drawing next year. But when I am on a trip somewhere else, I never know if I will be there a next time.

Benjamin, the story gets better: she knew about my drawings, a foreign contact had send her my earlier castle drawing (probably from Urban sketchers), and she thought it was made by an American on holiday or something. Much to her surprise I could show her the original in the sketchbook I always carry around.

That's stupendous. I'm sure she was a little breath taken to actually meet the artist and see the original. It's very rare that someone shares a picture online and one day the artist is blocking your grand entrance :b

Stick to being an artist/architect I'm sure your much better at it then a road block... Hehe

Rene,
I am sorry I have been so preoccupied with moving this last month I have not seen all of the amazing sketches you have been drawing. I was thinking it would be nice for you to publish a book of your sketches, and I would love to be one of your first customers. Any chance you'll do that? -Rob

Thanks for visiting Rob, you don't have to excuse yourself, going through these changes is always time and energy consuming. I was even surprised to see these fantastic new drawings from your hand.
I have been thinking of publishing a book, but haven't found the time yet. I am spending too much time in front of laptops instead of drawing anyway. Maybe I will after the holiday season.
