Steinhuder Meer

Returned from a business trip to the Hannover area, Neustadt am Rüberberge. We slept in a hotel in an old fisher village next to a large lake "Steinhuder Meer". Now a tourist resort.
Sketching in winter is hard, as it's still dark when we get up in the morning, and pitchdark when return in the evening. I had to take my breakfast early, just to create some 15 minutes in the early morning light. Just before we would leave for the meetings.

I had to work quick, and it shows.

It looks like a very nice place. I can sympathize with you over the lack of light - especially when you are unable to sketch due to working hours. At least the temperature seemed to have been relatively warm - I don't see any squiggly lines caused by cold fingers! I like the addition of the cyclist - it provides a sense of scale and adds interest.

The cyclist was an afterthought. When I wrapped up my stuff to go to the meeting, a cyclist passed, and I thought: hey that would fit into that empty area.
I added the guy a few hours later. It seemed to fit right in!

Ah, I miss scenes like this! Takes me home. Well, my other home that is.

Yes Rob, I can imagine. I am travelling a lot in Germany these days, and I see a lot of "Kandern"... :)
