Les dessous de Shaya
Business trip to Tarbes, France again. Bottom sketch: view from room 508 of the Rex hotel, always a fascinating panorama. On fridaymorning I got up an hour early to sketch, but the only nice thing I noticed was this shopwindow.

art class 12
Art class, watercolour wet in wet after a live model. I was surprised to find that these splashes of colour really looked like the guy. Some kick. Schildercursus, vanmorgen, aquarel nat-in-nat, naar een echt, levend model.

Ray Bradbury
Ray Bradbury's book "the martian chronicles": that was the kind of science fiction I loved when I was young. Unfortunately I lost the book; but last summer in London I retrieved a copy in a specialised bookstore.
When I read it, I remembered that in my schooldays me and my friends used to make random ballpoint scribbles in our schoolbooks. And we challenged each other to make some drawing out of it, something like "Europe after the rain" by Max Ernst.
After opening some dusty boxes I found this sketch back, dating from about '74 (bottom drawing).
For me this drawing is the visual representation of the world described in the "martian chronicles". And I could not resist redoing the drawing in my moleskine, 35 years later.

Albina's book
A moleskine exchange book got lost between the Netherlands and Russia. I remade 2 drawings, one from Thalia (Peru) called "flowers" , and my own called "Jonas and the whale". Een moleskine exchange boek is kwijtgeraakt; daarom heb ik de tekeningen van Thalia en mijzelf overnieuw gemaakt.
