Maastricht city hall

City hall of Maastricht. Very quick watercolour. It made this on location as instruction during drawing class.
Next to my daytime job, I also teach young architecture students how to sketch and draw.
Yesterday evening we went out, to do some outdoor exercises. You can still see the thin pencil line of the cube, which I used to build the perspective of the drawing.

Wolfshagen

Bussinestrip to the Harz, Germany, for a new project. We stayed the night in a hotel in Wolfshagen, before dinner I made a walk through the village. There was nothing to see (except for a lot of Dutch senoir tourists, who looked fit enough for long walks through the steep hills with their nordic walking sticks).
I found this home for elderly people, which had nice woodstructure.
If I have to go here more often I will have trouble finding interesting things to sketch.....

Brussels: thurn & taxis

I am running behind with my sketches, and don't have enough time to sketch at present. Regular work, the usual hobbies, teaching architect students to draw and organizing a sketching workshop in Volterra (Italy).
So this is a leftover of a quick sketch I made during an architectural visit with the students to Brussels.
It's an abandoned and burned out railway house on a former trainyard, called thurn & taxis. The new office towers are slowly creeping towards this part of the town.

10.000 kilometres

I just found out that I ran 10.000 km in 10 years and 3 months.
Even though I am running regularly since 1981, I started to keep track on a simple excel list since may 2005. Just the distances. I am surprised that I came that far, considering I had a serious ankle injury some years ago; and could not run for almost a year.
I did not run all these kilometres on these shoes of course, this is my ninth pair of Brooks Addiction since I kept track.

Liège: houses

I am lagging behind. I lost some data with the loss of the computer, and I just noticed that I did not post this drawing of about a month ago.
A row of colourful houses in a suburb of Liège.
I took a wrong turn on a road I had traveled a lot of times (I ended up in the wrong lane, it turned left). But sometimes something like this delivers fresh views and new subjects.

An architect's dream

Experimenting with coloured inks. I bought a book with illustrations by Sergio Toppi (italian), he has a fantastic style of drawing. It inspired me to this drawing.
The head is based on a picture by Le Corbusier, for me the symbol of the visionary architect.
The building in the background is just a fantasy design of mine.

Sta. maria della concezione

A little morbid scene this time. This is a scene in one of the chapels of the Capucine monastry Santa Maria della Concezione. They used thousands of skulls and bones of deceased monks to decorate the chapels.
Obviously we were not allowed to take pictures, but a drawing was less of a problem.

Rome: Miguele

A beggar at the steps of the church Sant'Agnese in Agone, on the tourist ridden Piazza Navona.
He notticed me drawing him - obviously, a guy like that will observe the public around him with a lot of attention.
He told me he liked the sketch very much, but the was after he received my decent tip.
He told me his name was Miguele. These steps were his regular hangout, As a matter of fact, I had made the photograph I show here quite accidentally two days before.
