More views of Liège, the top one from the citadelle towards Ste. Croix. It rained a bit, drizzle, you can see it on the watercolour. But I liked the unexpected effect, I left it that way. The bottom one are the steps of Bueren. 300something steep steps. Enough to get exhausted when our are on the top.

Wow, great sketches, Rene. Congratulations on your excellent work!
PS - Hey, do you speak Portuguese?
PPS - Happily copying your blog address to my side-bar...
Thanks Miú. I'll copy your adress as well, a little later this week. I did speak portuguese, but that was a long time ago. In the 70s and early 80s I worked each summer in the Coimbra (Mortagua, Viseu, Praia de Mira) and Alentejo region (Beja) as volunteer to built or restore houses for poor people. I was the leader of groups of young Dutch students, and as we lived in the small villages among the families I had to speak the language. You learn fast that way. But unfortunately I haven't been able to visit portugal in 20 years, so I think my knowlegde of your beautiful language is gone.
Interesting sketches. The stairway looks absolutely incredible - I think that I would get a heart attack by the time I got to the top. The Sketch of the church reminds me of the cover to Joni Mitchell's album Ladies of the Canyon where a colour image is set inside a line drawing. With all the white space around your watercolour, special emphasis is given to the church.
Nice cover of the album. The problem with laperellos (these long strips of paper) is how to end one drawing and start the next. You want them to flow into each other, or hook ito each other. But some views don't support that idea. In this case the view was in between a few buildings, so this was the obvious thing to do. The car on the bottom already belongs to the stairs drawing.
