Coloured ink

An now its time for something entirely different. I bought a few bottles of coloured ink, to experiment.
Lately I am inspired by the work of the (outside Italy unknown) illustrator Sergio Toppi, and his use of (coloured) pen and ink drawings. This drawing is loosely based on a drawing of Toppi called "Dicono".
I was trying out several of his techniques, but I still have to work out and train myself on how he treats the ink. Anyway, for a first try I am pretty pleased. Not that I come close to his outstanding work, but it's a start anyway.

Thanks for introducing me to Sergio Toppi, an incredible graphic artist. I'll have to follow-up on his seemingly vast collection of images and graphic novels. In deciding to follow his technique, you've certainly set the bar high (not that you're able to create images as good as him). I certainly look forward to other similar sketches that you'll be posting.

Thanks Michael. I ran across a book by Toppi in the basement bookstore in Statione Termini in Rome. I was flabbergasted by his style. The book is called "Ignoto", and was the last (12th) instalment of his collected works. It only cost 10 euro. Unfortunately in Italian, which I can barely read, but a feast for the eyes.
