Maastricht, het Bat

Lunchtime in Maastricht. When I am working in the Maastricht office, I take the opportunity to make a quick walk into the centre of town. And if I feel like it, I have just enough time to make a quick sketch. The weather was quite nice today.

Very colourful. Once again, you make good use of the blank white space. It focuses our attention on the building and the patio.
Did you also colour it during your lunch hour, or did you do the painting later at home?

I usually paint it briefly at location, with sometimes little adjustments at home. But this time I had to be back at the office for an appointment, I painted it later that evening. When I paint at home the colours are more lively, because I use a waterbrush on location . Compared to a red sable brush it flattens the colours a bit. Also, at home I use better quality paint (Rembrandt).

You've been very busy, Rene. I like all of your projects, and this sketch especially. Glad I came by your blog tonight- so busy I barely touch my computer these days...I guess that's a good thing. :)
