Spaubeek
I am fond of drawing with red ink Fude pens nowadays. Yesterday afternoon, in one of those ancient "hollow roads" I was able to make this quick sketch. I had forgotten to bring my watercoourset, so I decided to fill the colours digitally. Using Gimp.

De Ridder (6): Jake
Page 6 of "the strange travels of Lord Pentamundo or in Dutch: "De vreemde avonturen van Ridder Jeroen".
Now our Knight knew what to do: four quests to win the heart the Countess.
So he jumped on his flying horse and flew away. But it was late, and the sun set slowly behind the dark shadow of another castle.
Suddenly he heard a young boy sobbing. He was sitting on a fence and staring at his dark lantern.
The Knight asked curiously: “My dear boy, what is troubling you? How can I be of service?”
The boy looked up and said: “I am Jake, and I live in that little village over there. Since the storm of last week we don’t have any fire or light left!”
The Knight looked to the dark village.
Jake went on: “A seven-headed and fire spitting dragon lives in the tower of that castle. But she is very sweet: she offers us her fire for free. And that is so sparkling and beautiful that we are able to sell it to the other villages."
"But now we don’t get anything anymore. We don’t know what to do now!"

Etzenrade
Riding my bike this morning. I came across this scene, one of the country roads near my house, between BIngelrade and Etzenrade. Just a few 100 meters from the German border.

Geleen, Sint Janskluis
Happened to be in Geleen. It's not an old town, it grew mostly between 30's and 80's, due to the coalmines and a huge chemical plant. There is one old building however, this 1699 Sint Janskluis. A small chapel/church. In those dangerous times (there were bloody gangs, and a lot of foreign empires that had set their eye on these parts: Prussians, Austrians, Spanish, French, Holland) a building like this also served as refuge, hence the thick walls.

De Ridder (5): The Oracle
Lord Pentamundo page 5: the Oracle
"The belly of our Knight was totally filled; only four cakes were left.
He was totally in love and exclaimed: “Dear Countess! Behold my eternal Love! How can I conquer your heart?”
The Countess was surprised “But you will have to ask the Oracle! It predicted your arrival! Only yesterday I was told: “Through his stomach a man’s Love will show. Soup or Dessert is all you need to know!”
They both took the leftover cakes and went to the cellar.
The Countess asked: “Dear Oracle, this Knight (who still doesn’t know who he is) seeks your advice!” The Oracle was surprised to see the cakes, they ate three of them with joy.
Then they looked -still hungry- at the remaining cake and said enviously: “My lady, three mouths for four dishes means hell; but four ingredients in one meal will taste extremely well.”
Our Knight immediately knew what to do."
